Found dried blood on my goose, what is this? Blood feather? Please help...

I noticed a pinkish colour on my goose so I parted her feathers and found this, a lot of dried blood. What is this? Could it be a broken blood feather that clotted itself? it seems like an awful lot of blood which is really worrying me.

Oh thank you for replying. Scary - can they actually lose too much blood from breaking a blood feather? What do I do now? Should I clean it or leave it alone?

As long as she is not picking at/irritating it, I would leave it alone. Some pull them, but that can get messy. I don't think there is any chance of her becoming debilitated from a bleeding pin feather. Mom always used to say in such situations, "It's a long way from her heart." She was a bit pragmatic.
