We found this super friendly bird in our backgarden, at the moment he/she is in a rabbit run but we're planning to keep it. Can anyone tell me the breed and gender??
Thanks, any information would help! :D

Thankyou so much :)
I've been reading up online and looking at coops.
Have you got any advice? What to feed her? How to make her comfortable in the run till we get a coop?

I have that same bird it's a female black pheasant . There very beautiful birds .the male is more beautiful . I have both

This here is not a Pheasant.

This is a black pheasant.

Advice:

Feed her unmedicated starter feed, and get her a friend or two if you can. Chickens are social creatures.

I do have one who does not like chicken company, and that's fine if that is how she is. Some seem to think they are humans.

It looks like a hatchery quality silver laced(SL) single combed wyandotte-the hatchery birds are known to have bad lacing or reverse lacing(like this one has) and do get single combs-which is not a trait most breeders want in their breeding flocks.

Not a Wyandotte. First off, not the right comb, but also not the right feather pattern, or the right leg colour.

Wyandottes should have yellow legs, a rose comb and lacing. Even hatchery Wyandottes have some kind of lacing...

It looks to be silver pencilled rather than laced...

I was wondering if that's what silver penciling would look like at this age. I've never had a penciled, and really don't see many pics of them here as they're just not that common. But I have to say that was my first thought. Truthfully, it's probably a mixed breed, but it does look female. Try to find her owner first, then if you decide to keep her get her some company. She could eat starter or grower at this point, and fresh water.
