FOUNDER!

Whew, I'm really glad to hear it's 'just' sore feeties from a poor trim!

Yeah, it is really hard finding a good farrier, isn't it? If your horse vet has his own horses (as many do) you might even ask him who *he* uses... that's who pointed me towards the guy I now use. The previous farrier, who when you come right down to it is probably more interested in demolition derbies and metalworking than in horses, got the horses' feet *looking* textbook fine, but from month to month they were getting more and more sore, even the pony with cast-iron feet. I probably waited too long to switch, but you know how it is, it's like breaking up with a guy only worse

The horses seem to be pretty much back to fine now.

If your local feed or tack shop has it, I like Venice Turpentine even better than pine tar for toughening up tender soles. It is thick and gooey, unlike regular turpentine... just paint it on the soles same as pine tar, every other day for a week or so. (Some people say you can use regular ol' turpentine instead, other people say not to... I am agnostic on the subject, myself, tho I have done it in a pinch).

Good luck,

Pat
