We have had our rounds of foul pox and we use VetRX to treat it, which usually takes a couple weeks to clear our chickens up. Is there a more effective way? Or any way to PREVENT it all together? Our new batch of 13 2 month old babies is starting to get the "blisters" on their beak and eyes.. Poor babies!!!

I think there is a vaccine available, but since it's a virus I'm not sure how effective the vaccine is. Keeping the birds as healthy as possible, e.g. adding vitamin supplements to drinking water, helps to maintain a strong immune system which helps. I'm sure others will chime in.

Thank you I will definitely look for some vitamins for them:)

Although Fowl Pox is seen world wide I wonder if you would see very much of it where you live as I believe the primary vector is mosquitos? [our state bird :lau] Desert hot springs doesn't sound like prime mosquito habitat. :D

Haha! No it doesn't but you'd be surprised. I keep getting mosquitoes coming in at night. I finally found nextdoor neighbors have a drip on their tree and adjacent shrub. This prime breeding mushy tiny incubator. Since we haven't any frogs there's really nothing to stop them except to fix problem.

I've gone from having only sugar and harvester ants that I've been able to control to three additional types including fire ants. Also coming from their yard.

Investment rental duplex eaquates to it will not get fixed anytime soon or ever.

Back to mosquitoes issue. Is there a repellant one can use on chickens?

I'm all over the place, lol. Midnight posts not good, haha
