View attachment 1153814 Hi--Last week I noticed my five month old EE started getting bloody ears/ear lobes. I posted here and treated her with vitamins, polysporin and Vetericyn as per BYC posters (thank you!) She has since gotten worse. Her ears have remained bloody and dry looking (the photo shows her after I used Vetericyn), she's developed lesions on her head and one of her eyes got foamy and is now completely shut.

I've researched the web for mites/lice (she has some of the symptoms, but I've found no mites/lice on her face and only two on her body with no signs of infestation) and fowl pox (it kind of looks like that to me, but most of the photos on the web don't match the way my chicken looks). Can anyone help? Besides isolating her and using polysporin, Vetericyn, and vitamins, is there anything else I can do? She has always been a very sweet, friendly chicken, but should I cull her or is there a chance she'll get better? Thank you for any help/advice you can provide. I've not had good luck with the newest batch of chicks I've gotten and it's very frustrating and sad. I clean the coop every day and it's dry, as is the part of my yard where they free range.

Help! I isolated this chick, but now 5 of the 7 chicks have these lesions on their faces and ears. Their ears/lobes are swollen and encrusted with either blood or tumors. I tried to clean one out, but nothing would come loose and I didn't want to hurt the chick. We have 7 5-month old chicks that are all getting these lesions.

The eight adult hens haven't exhibited any symptoms so far. Should I isolate all of the chicks with symptoms together? Never seen this before in my flock and don't know what to do. I've used Vetericyn, vitamins, and Neosporin. Some of the chicks have bloody lesions on their beaks/faces, but others have encrusted, blackish sores. Kind of at my wits end! Any help you can give would be very much appreciated.

I don't know what you are dealing with- however if it were my flock I would absolutely isolate the hens exhibiting symptoms away from the others. I would also be extremely careful to wash hands, and change any shoes or clothing while going back and fourth between their specific areas. Seems like whatever it may be is potentially pretty contagious. Hoping you get some answers, fast!!

Thank you! As I understand it from searching here, fowl pox is a virus. I can't figure out what else it can be. I can't find any mites/lice on the chick's bodies or faces. Some on here have recommended putting either iodine or hydrogen peroxide on the lesions. The chicks are getting weak and listless, although they are still eating and drinking. I feel so helpless.

Fowl pox is a virus, and is transmitted by mosquitoes... if you have standing, stagnant water around, get rid of it... as far as I know, all you can do is support care and wait for it to run its course... @casportpony what do you think? Fowl pox or something else?

Btw, I have seen a lot of reports of fowl pox the last 2 years... :(
