Does anyone know if the feathers will grow back after a chicken has been healed from fowl pox.
I bought a few month old chicks a while back and two weeks into their isolation i noticed scabs and found out they have fowl pox. I've gotten at least half of them healed but they look bold and i just want to know if the feathers will grow back.View attachment 4158337View attachment 4158338View attachment 4158339these three are almost healed👆
And these two are still being treated👇View attachment 4158340View attachment 4158341I have been treating them for almost 3 weeks now and they look good but i dont see any feathers growing even on the one who healed a week ago.
I still treat the afected areas even on the birds that are healed.

I don't have first hand knowledge but they'll likely need their protein bumped up to have the energy and building blocks to grow new feathers, which are made from protein. But other than that I don't know.
Wel a lot of them are looking strong and are eating a lot, even the affected ones so I am sure they are getting enough protein so i guess it's just a waiting game to see what happens.

Some of the chicks had foamy eyes for a while but i cleaned the eyes with saline water and now they look alright.
Two of the chicks had it bad and their eyes were scabbed shut. I gently removed the scabs by using saline water to gradually separate the scabs from the skin. I got the eyes open but there was a liquid pus coming from the eyes. I cleaned that also and now their eyes are alright. Is this fowl pox or not. Only reason I think it's fowl pox is because none of the other sicknesses that i saw affecting the eyes had scabs as a symptom. Any help is appreciated.

Are you sure the feather loss was due to fowl pox? Have you checked for mites and lice? One of my roosters had fowl pox recently, here is a link to the thread:

In my case, fowl pox only effected comb and wattle area, no feather loss because of it.

I have boosted their protein intake together with vitamin supplements, they are also free ranging on the farm on the days when there are people around, so they get plenty of sunshine and fresh grass.

The infected rooster's comb and wattles were cleaned with disinfectant and idoine solution.

I'm pretty sure because the feather loss was where the scabs were and after they fell off they left bold spots

Here are the other fotos here are the black and red chicks that are almost fully healed
