Can anyone help me? My chickens were attacked by a fox. One of the chickens has a bunch of feathers missing off her back but I also notice some places where she was bit. It doesn't look deep and the wound isn't bleeding but it looks like it did bleed for a bit because there is dried blood on it. My question is should we have the chicken put down since I have no idea if the fox had rabies. And my second question is: is it ok to be eating her eggs if we're not sure if the fox had rabies.

A fox wiped out half my flock and injured two of my ducks. Both are still healing as for eating the eggs i never though about it passing through them into there eggs. But my ducks don't seem to be any different. I dont think many foxes carry rabies but i could be wrong.

If she hasn't died by shock by now it sounds like a good sign. I'd spray or treat with some type of antiseptic (I like Scarlet Oil Spray, you could use some Polysporin or some such w/o the pain reliever in it) and then give a dose of antibiotics. Put a pinch of that electrolyte/vitamin powder in the drinking water.
