We have a family of foxes living in our neighbours garden. They're about 20 feet away from our chickens and we need to stop them getting in to the chicken area. What deterents can we use to stop them getting in. We are in a built up area, so no guns. We need to take cats in to concideration, so nothing that a cat could be harmed by. HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP!!!!!!

I saw one about a week ago right by my girls coop. Had never seen one before then. I've been leaving floodlights on and playing a radio outside all night long!

Electric fence is your friend. The chargers can be a little$$ but after that it's very cost effective and can't be beat for keeping all kinds of critters out. You can check your local classifieds for a used one too.

Bury 1" chicken wire at a slight angle at the base of your coop and run. Now install an electric fence atleast 2 strands about 4"-6" off of your coop and run.

Watch your cats. Hungry fox are not beyond killing and eating cats. Vixens are soon to whelp the kits, and the dog fox will be hunting doubly hard to feed himself plus the vixen and kits. Electric fence is the best protection for your chickens. Good luck. Geo.

if you know exactly where the den is, you might want to set a trap outside it, but cover it with leaves and bury some food below it in a little trench.....you have to be clever because foxes are very clever and quick...put a string of wire around the hen house with tin pie plates tied on it..lots of them, when they hit it, it will make lots of noise and that will scare them away.
