Fox took two chooks lone survivor is freaked out.

Can anybody give me advise on how to console my poor hen whom is the lone survivor of a fox attack. She won’t eat or drink. I don’t think she is physically harmed but very upset obviously. Please respond ASAP. I have reinforced the henhouse and removed any sign of the carnage. My main concern is the poor hen “Lacy” a beautiful RRR.

Try to put her in a cardboard box with a heat lamp on it... Just don't let anything catch on fire, lol. Set a dish of feed and water in there with her. Chickens can actually suffer from depression so the best option is to get her some new friends asap. Put a stuffed animal in there with her so she will feel comforted and not so lonely. I really hope that this helps! Poor Lacy... <3

Well, she is def traumatized!

How long has it been since this happened (in the last 24 hours, etc)?

I would def say get her some friends asap.

A stuffed animal might help.

Unfortunately Lacy never recovered. Finally found a vet who tends chickens miles away from home, but Lacy was too devastated to go on. Her replacement friend Tilly is now lonely so I’m off to get her a friend.

She was physically harmed. Fox often makes rapid bites to back and neck that do not involve feather loss.
