Hi All,

I know this has been covered but I am going to open it up to my situation. I have had a fox every now and then come through and grab a chicken. This last time really got me. My whole flock was outside doing their thing (I free range from around 5:30 until dark) I was out there checking on things and saw my Hei Hei was right behind my granddaughter playhouse. Other chickens were walking around too but she was kind of my herself. I went into the house for a couple of minutes and then went back outside. I noticed some feathers and thought that my rooster was doing his thing again but then saw a bunch of feathers. I followed the trail and saw she was partially eaten and drug away. I knew it was a fox. I quickly got the rest of my flock back in their pen. I know how fox work. Now I live on two acres and can not fence my yard. Too expensive. There is a hedgerow behind my house and around the back of my yard. I regularly put wolf urine around the perimeter but I want to try more things. Has anyone ever had any luck with leaving a radio on talk radio outside?

Fox are pretty persistent once they get a meal. I don't think anything will work long term except keeping the birds penned, or getting rid of the fox.

This may not be helpful at all, as I don't know your setup

You could try electric fencing. Slightly less expensive depending on how much you need to do.

We haven't used electric for fox (different predator issues) but I'm sure there is plenty of info out there, if it's a direction you wanted to consider.
