I recently was reading an issue of Gardens Illustrated Feb. 2007 British version (yes I'm that far behind)

The first article is about Fox Season and mentions how to deter.

1. Deny an easy food source. Foxes like nuts so don't put out loose bird food.

2. Use repellents. Use chemical repellents to "scent mark" your territory. Chemical deterrents need repeated application.

Try using a motion - activated sprinkler.

Further it mentions removing a fox from it's territory usually creates a vacancy that is usually filled within days.

Don't allow places for foxes to live. Clear the area of places they can build a den.

BUT my point in posting this is that I have been an advocate of men "marking" their territory. If your man or men are too shy to mark give them a spray bottle to fill and use that.

(Unless your dog drinks a lot I don't know he'll be much good. Plus it's hard to get them to pee in a spray bottle.)

I can hear the men now. "but honey I'm only drinking so I can mark the yard against foxes like Rancher said"

Sorry guys but Coffee, water and soda are great diuretics.

I can also hear this. Doctor: "so Mr. Jones how did your hurt yourself?" Mr. Jones: "Well doc I was out marking my territory and fell in a ditch"

I have tied rags to trees to soak. Brown rags would be invisible from a long distance.

I've even considered a "marked" scare crow but am afraid it might confuse my chickens and they might hang around it like they do me when I'm out in the yard. Not that I smell like urine. Well not most of the time anyhow.

In England it is illegal to relocate a fox and I personally have no use for such a thing. Your problem could become someone elses and that's not fair IMO.

Have a nice day,

Rancher
