Francolins

Francolins are skittish birds by nature. But if tamed they're really good pets. They're ground dwelling birds. There are different species of francolins, but in my opinion the grey francolin and black francolin are the ones to keep because they are less skittish and more hardy ime. If buying a francolin make sure to get from a reputable breeder as they will be most likely tame and hardy.

It is really hard to find them in canada. i wonder what species are the most common? My silver pheasants are the tamest birds ive ever had. I tried goldens and found them too flighty. What species is that in your avatar? Do francolins mix with any other species in large avairy?

If you were to keep francolins I would go for grey or erkels francolin as you live in Canada I don't think black francolins are ideal because they need heat unless you can provide. Ime I wouldn't keep francolins with other bird species especially the grey francolin because they're aggressive towards other birds. If you going to keep francolin get them as a pair. Because same gender species will fight to death. That's a grey francolin female in my avatar.

are they more carnivorous than other game birds? I have only seen one person have them, he has his in with reeves and silver pheasants in a 25 foot by 20 avairy. He wants 200 for a pair.
