Freckled egg...

I've been getting a small white egg, a light to medium brown egg about once a day or every other day, but today I went out and found a medium brown egg with freckles on it. Could it be possible that the egg came from the same one laying the brown egg or is the freckled egg from a totally different hen?

Gosh I think it could be either one.... I get one brown egg every day, and sometimes it has spots. I only have one brown layer right now.

The other thing I should have added was every egg up till this one has been laid in the nest box. This freckled brown egg was laid under the roost in the poo....I guess I'll just trying to keep catch the girls in action.

I had golf balls in the nest box until the first few eggs were laid then I took them out. I put them back in today in case one of the girls is new to laying and needs some help.

Perhaps it is diet that makes them freckled? I'm new to this like so many on here and just thrilled with it either way.
Do you think if she consistenly has been laying in the nest box she would just lay one in the poop?

My cochin has been laying since early October and she lays the biggest variety of eggs. So much so, that I started to wonder if there was another layer and I'd missed her first egg. ...then the 2nd and 3rd started to lay... definitely not the same egg.

I'd say that it could be either way, too, if the egg looks the same (size, shape, etc...) except for freckles it could definitely be the same pullet.

We joke and say our cochin is an artist. ha!

I have one that always lays freckled eggs. The others all seem to lay "normal" eggs.

I get freckles on the dark brown and light brown eggs.
