I'm pretty sure this little dude is a roo. He is 12 weeks old. He was the lone hatchling under a broody hen on Pi Day back in March. Hence we called him Blackberry Pi, but recently Chicken Pot Pi, as he is showing signs of being male, despite being a docile and lovely chick. His parentage is Black Ameraucana, the rooster from John Blehm lines, the hen's history not quite as clear. He hatched out of a nice sky blue egg.
He hasn't crowed yet, but his comb turned red very early on, and his tail is starting to curl in the typical roo fashion. His saddle feathers are barely starting to come in. I think they are going to be pointed. He has done a little chest bumping with the hens. He has a nice beard and muffs. He has slate legs. He is black, but has a couple of stray white"splash" feathers, which I cannot explain. They might disappear when he goes through his juvenile molt.
He is free. Pick up or local delivery only.
He is not vaccinated for Marek's, but I have never had a hen with Marek's here.
When I figure out how to post a pic, I will update this. In the meantime, if you want a pic, PM me with your email address, and I will send it directly.
Thanks!
