Chapter 1
I mounted my mare and turned back, "So long, King Victor. I wish we could have come to an agreement. Perhaps someday we will." I shrugged. "Perhaps, good bye Queen Nicoletta." Victor turned back to his horse and rode away.
"Home!" I yelled to my calvary as we galloped away.
Two hours later the troops were back at Omir Castle. I handed my horse to the stable boy and went to change into an evening gown. I was covered in horse sweat and dust so I decided on a quick bath. I then changed into a royal blue gown with diamonds embedded in the bodice. My ladies in waiting took out my plaited hair and arranged the long curls just right. I carefully set the crown on my head. It feels weird wearing my mother's crown; she and my father died only a month ago and already I have bachelors lined up at my door. Tonight I am meeting with the king, queen, and prince of Savia. King Victor rules Caliba, I rule Omir, King Leo rules Savia, and King Aram rules Goro. Victor has the largest, then Aram, then Leo, and I, with the smallest country. Goro, Savia, and Caliba are all at war with each other and I am stuck in the middle. Victor will not provide for my country while my soldiers fight for him and King Aram's family has always hated my family. King Leo's son, Weston, is my last chance for marriage and an alliance. I arrive in the dinning hall and the servants are already serving tea. I take my place on the end, Leo sits at the other end, Weston sits to my right, and his mother, Queen Alissa, is to my left. The table has been switched out with a small one because there are only four of us. Weston has stunning blue eyes and short black hair, he is about six feet tall and is wearing a white tunic and black trousers; his country's colors. Alissa is wearing a white dress with black pearls in the bodice. Leo is dressed in all black. "Good evening, how have you been?" I ask. "Fairly well, I'd say. We do not have the upper hand in the war, though. That is why we have come here tonight; to ask for your help." Leo shrugged. "You have a very powerful calvary and we would like it on our side." I took a drink of my tea and said "And I would like to make an alliance before this war gets too far for us to have any chance. But can you provide for my calvary's wives while their husbands and sons are at war?" Weston shifts uncomfortably in his chair. "We would like to ask to... Well... Merge our countries and become one. Our farmers could provide food and your soldiers could provide protection." I pursed my lips, "Well, if we did merge, what would we call ourselves?" Leo laughed. "We would call ourselves... Well... We would call ourselves Omavia." I laughed. "Sounds like a deal to me." We finished supper and went to bed early.
