You can get LOTS of free materials from your local Yahoo Freecycle folks, membership is free. We have given away, and received, all kinds of building materials, plants, shrubs, you name it. Keeps things going to people who want it and out of the landfills. For more info go here-

I've been freecycling for over 2 years now. That and craigslist free section , and a place called junk heroes near where I live, have supplied me with the majority of my materials!
LOVE keepin' it out of the landfills!

I've been freecycling for 4+ years. I did it when I lived in NY and boy the things that I gave away and got from people was amazing.

Where I live now, we get some freecycle stuff but rarely any building materials, and not a whole lot of other stuff. Although this week I did pick up a dog and cat carrier, a kitten and about 3 dozen Tidy Cat buckets (we store our animal feed in them). I gave away a futon, 3 hens, 5 roosters, 8 dozen eggs and a desk this week.

Rustys- We have given away furniture, all kinds of things. You just post something you'de like like "Garden Plants Wanted- Boise", add more info on the main page, then post and people will email if they want to give you thinkgs. Then the reverse, post "Offer- Garden Plants, Boise", then ditto. I give away to the first email person... Have fun!

I've tried to sign up with three different groups around here and been refused all three times,, to me that means Freecycle is a clique of people I don't want anything to do with.
