Just walked out to check on my chickens and a full grown quail hen was pacing outside the run. Opened the door and she followed me in and started eating like she belonged there. Gonna ask around and see if anybody missing her because she is tame and gotta be somebody's pet. Otherwise guess I'm now a quail owner. Just the weirdest thing.

My guess is coturnix. I'm not an quail expert by any means. We had bobwhites when I was a kid and have wild ones around. She seems too big to be a bobwhite. See if I can remember how to post a pic. About the best I can do as she is skiddish of me. Not gonna try to stress her anymore chasing to get a better picture.

Kind of difficult to tell from the picture, but I'm pretty sure it's a bobwhite male.
The shape and patterns look more like a bobwhite than Japanese (coturnix) quail and it looks like it has a white face making it a male.

Well darn, was hoping it was a hen to get eggs off it. Oh well it ran out of the pen when I went to feed em. I put some crumble outside and it was eating earlier, still hanging around.
