No. That would be stealing. It would be better to attempt to find the owner. If owner cannot be located...then i guess you have a chicken.

I would return it because having a angry chicken tender calling and looking for there bird

I have one neighbor with chickens. If a bird came up to my acreage I would catch it and ask if it was theirs. If not I would keep.
I’d also probably post on a local Facebook group and ask if anyone’s lost a chicken and if so they should send a photo of it to verify if it’s theirs. If no reply, then yes it’s yours lol

Where are you located ? If you mean 'free range' as in feral birds in Hawaii, sure. If they are birds from someone else's flock the answer is quite evident. NO.
