Free range chickens spooked into woods

Hello everyone! Need some advice please, our free range chickens were spoked by something (idk what) but 5 of our hens are missing. They are always together but 5 are missing. This just happened the other 3 we can tell are scared and I’m assuming the other 5 are in the thicket behind my shop. How long will they stay before coming out you reckon? They will come EVERYTIME we call them but they aren’t coming now. I’m sure it’s because they have been scared off by something. Please help my wife is having a nervous break down.

Generally spooked birds return at dusk. Good luck. Hopefully none were captured by predators.

Sad to say but when you free range it's likely you will loose some birds to predators sooner or later. Most people who do or have free ranged have lost birds sooner or later. Hopefully they are well hidden and will show up. It appears you will have to go into the woods and look for them and hopefully you will find them alive and well. If you have a game camera, put it up and then you will be able to see what lurks. Most likely it will show up on a camera. Good luck...
