Hello, my silkie chickens are about 10 weeka old. They are a little frightened of me when I walk past them. Would it be a good idea if I let them free range while I watch? Will they run away?

Are they in a coop? If they are bonded to the coop they shouldn't go too far initially and should never actually run away. Mine free range from an early age at about 8-10 weeks, but before that age I confine them to a small fenced in area that I move daily.

Let them out at the end of the day.
I start free ranging at 8 weeks old.
They wont run away. They will probably stick pretty close to the coop. Use some scratch to train them to follow you back to the coop.
