Free range chicks

Ok my chicks i got at Big R are 2.5 weeks old. I moved them to the garden shed a week ago, it is an 8 by 16.. i lock them in a box at nite in there. can i let them out to free range? Will they go back in? I have plenty of chicken wire should i make a frame and put them in there? They are getting big.. will Mama Duck attack em.. i dont think the rooster and 1 hen will bother them.. the Roo has already benn in there..

Generally they won't go far initially. I supervise all outing for about a week or two to make sure everything is going well. I lock them back up when I can't keep an eye on them or if there's trouble. Usually after a few weeks mine can come and go as they please. It will take some time before they range too far away from their pen.
