free range doves

What kind of doves are you talking about?

Normal white doves (white domestic pigeons) can 'free range' fine after you train them. Also most fancy breeds of pigeons like fantails can be allowed to fly freely, provided they have a safe coop to nest and roost in.

I only let mine out when I am there at home. I love watching them flying in a group around my house and also bathing in my pond. I keep them locked up in the aviary and coop when I am not at home to protect them form hawks.

Here is a pic of my king pigeon pair that love to stretch their wings around the garden.

Do you have any techniques to keep hawks from attacking your free-roaming birds when you're at home? I'm just curious because I was at my home when a hawk lunged at one of my free-roaming birds about 10 feet away from me. Close call and good thing the hawk didn't get one of my birds. I ran towards that sucker and made sure it thinks twice the next time it tries to take any of my birds.

i dont have eny techniques for keeping hawks away because i dont really have eny problems with hawks
