I have a small flock of 10 ducks that have been free ranging since they were about 6 weeks old. As they get closer to a laying age I am becoming concerned about them having a place to lay their eggs. I can build a nest box but I'm not sure if they will use it. They do not have a coop, they live outside and sleep where they want, usually underneath the rabbit hutch. If I build a nest box near there will they use it? If not, I'm open for suggestions on how to get them to lay eggs in a nest box. Thank you

tom I have mallard ducks ive never let them sleep where they want do to the fact to many critters can get them. mine have a coop. plus I had to seperate my male from my females. mine made a nest out of straw her feathers. mine hatched out twelve ducklings til she killed all but seven. I brought them in the house til they were two months old. now there outside. I also have to find a home for at three of them.I've been out of work off and on since april because I got hurt at work. I hope all your females are doing well.
