Free range peasants

Is it possible to free range pheasants or will they just fly away? And also can they be trained to be pet friendly?

I don't want an aviary just don't have the room with how hilly the property is.

Pheasants can be raised in captivity, but they are not domesticated. Once loose, they will take off to where they please.
