Free range quail

How does one go about letting coturnix quail free range? do you clip their wings or what? How much space do they need?

Don't clip their wings, that is how they get away from predators; humans included! I had one on 1st flight went 200 yards. It may be against the law to turn loose quail. You don't want Johnny Law taking your animals away from you, do you?

Coturnix quail are meant for training, not for release. If you want quail for release get bobwhite

(but look into your states laws first because you cannot just release game birds without approval).
