free ranging mallards?

I am raising two mallard ducklings from McMurray hatchery along with my other farm ducklings. I know that the farm ducks can free range because they have lost most of their flight ability, but mallards can fly well. So far, they stick around with the farm ducklings and do not really leave them. Can I free range these mallards when they grow up or will they fly away and never come back.

MOST hatchery sourced mallards are so many generations from the wild that they do not fly off; however, there is no guarantee that they may not.

It is possible. Some of my Rouens fly all of over our property at times. It’s obvious that they were crossed with mallards because they are smaller than my regular Rouens.
