I’m fixing to inherit 12 free roaming peafowl (an additional 6-9 babies that are 6-12 months old) from an elderly family member (she’s always had Peafowl so I’m not sure the age of these particular birds) who just passed away. They’ve never been penned; they’re 100% free roaming. Therefore, they’ll be taken from the deceased property to mine. What steps should I take in order to keep them at my property? Neighbors are not a big concern. I’m just trying to keep them at their new home once I get them. Thank you!

Luckily we are coming out of the breeding season so there should be harmony in the pens if you have to mix cocks together. I would pen for a couple of months then start letting a few out for day ranging and putting them back at night. Let different birds out so they will become accustomed but not all of them at once until they have proven to stay close to home.
