As Ridgerunner recommended, I'm reposting this in this section.
It turns out that one of our White Rock chicks (supposed to be all hens!) turned out to be a roo! I'm so sad because I absolutely love this chicken...he's docile and you can handle him without him pecking, and he's just a great critter all around. I would keep him in a heartbeat except that we have an ordinance in our neighborhood about roosters. sad I guess I'm wondering if anyone could take him...we wouldn't even ask any money for him, so long as he goes to a good home. We live in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area.
He's about four months old (hatched April 20), in great health, absolutely beautiful. His name was Belle when we thought he was a hen, now it's Captain Jack. We knew we were in trouble when he started growing beautiful long tail feathers and crowing at the top of his lungs.
I'll try to post images soon.
Please, if anyone could help, we would all be so grateful. We don't want to get in trouble with the neighbors, and we really want Be...Cap'n Jack...to have a good home where he can just be a roo! If you have any advice on where else I might look, that would be appreciated too!
