French chickens

Here are a few mediocre photos of my new chickens. I built the run last week and was given two young roosters and a young hen. On Monday, at a local market, I bought 5 more hens. THey are not yet laying, but they are definitely older than the original 3 birds. (The small dark hen next to the rooster in the center of the picture was the one that came with the roosters.)

I bought two white hens, two that look like Rhode Island Reds, and one that was black and brown. The black and brown one is on the left edge of this photo

And finally one of the whites alongside the rooster.

Can anyone tell me what breeds they are, or are some chickens like dogs from the pound? I enjoy watching them, but as I only have 8, I'm not ready to let them run around the farm and be fox bait. My nearest neighbor, almost a mile away, lost two geese to the foxes last week.
