Been reading a host of old threads on here, i have 12 -13 unpiped eggs in the incubator, one ducklings that hatched about 4 pm and I removed another that had piped but died . The one isn’t what I would call fully fluffed out and it is getting kind of late, incubator is at 65%humidity 100.4 degrees at egg level (still air) and i have to leave very early tomorrow morning for a few hours, wont be back until about 10 , will he be ok in there for 18 ish hours total? I worry about it being hotter at his head height and overheating. Any advice?

He should be fine. I hatch at school and often leave the first one in overnight. They are happier with the other eggs than alone in a brooder. I would not worry about over heating because he will seek out a cooler spot if needed. I am not sure it is necessary but I usually leave a tiny, shallow water dish (that they can’t fall in and drown) just to be safe. A heavy jar lid for example. Sometimes I put a piece of sponge in it too.

Ok, so day 27, one hatch , one died trying, not sure what happened there, and no evidence of activity from anyone else, so I have 13 eggs doing nothing, all went in the same day and have developed. Any recommendations? If i end up with just one duckling I’ll really be looking for a home for it, poor lonely little thing. Its cool looking, modeled on top, yellow underneath with orange bill and feet.
