Fresh Eggs Gone Bad

We have fresh eggs from our chickens that we usually put in the frig after a couple of days. Three at the most. Our weather is fair on the west coast. I went to hard boil some eggs and several of our small Americauna eggs floated to the top. I decided to do a float test on all of our eggs thinking that perhaps its because some eggs are smaller. Out of all of the small eggs, only three didn't float. More than a dozen floated to the top. Do we have a bad chicken laying eggs? The eggs aren't old at all! All of our chickens appear to be healthy!
I joined the forum this morning because I Recently discovered my barred rock has Apparently been laying eggs that occasionally float when boiled. I just boiled three of her eggs this morning. They are no older than four days and of the three only one lays flat, one stands on its end, and one floats. So from my personal experience, fresh eggs can float. Because I’ve been eating her eggs for 4-5 years and have never gotten sick, I’m assuming that fresh eggs that float are also good to eat :)
The long story: I recently started making egg salad for my husband. We usually just fry or eggs. My oldest girl has always laid eggs that are light and thin shelled with a rough texture. We’ve been eating them for years fried in a pan. This is the first time I Realize that my barred rock laid eggs that float when boiled. First time this happened I research the Internet and of course learned that floating eggs meant they were old and not good to eat. So of course I promptly threw it out. I couldn’t figure out how an old egg ended up in my basket since I collect my eggs every day, I rotate old to the front, and use my eggs within 5 to 7 days. We love eggs :) But, who can argue with the Internet, right? So I figured somehow I must’ve messed up somewhere along the line and Let one of my eggs get old. So this morning I boiled eggs that I collected the last three days and one of my barred rock eggs stood on end, one floated off the bottom of the pan and one laid at the bottom on its side. so from my personal experience fresh eggs can float. I have three chickens and the other two lay eggs that are thicker shelled and more soft. They haven’t floated to date. If all of my barred rock eggs floated that would make sense because they all have the same light colored thin rough shell. But they don’t all float.
I hope this is helpful to someone out there :)
