Fresh Eggs

Can you tell if a fresh eggs is fertile before you put in in the bator? Or do you have to leave it in there a few days for someting to start growing?

You won't be able to see anything by candling, at least not reliably, till about Day 6-7 unless you have an intensely bright candling light.
