We are using fresh wood chippings for bedding this summer and expect to save some money doing it ourselves. We are clearing brush from the field that hasnt been mowed for years. The field has become overgrown with thin saplings. We intend to hay the field next year. Has anyone else ever done this? Making their own chips? Once the coop is cleaned the shavings can go into the compost pile for next years veggie garden also. We have 40 chickens so it does help.
