hy! i'm just wondering, how long can i have fresh eggs in the fridge before i can give it under a broody? some say 14 days at max. is that true?

Eggs for hatching should be kept at room temperature, not too warm and not too cold. Ideally eggs should be given to a hen within a week of being laid. After a week the odds of it hatching drops radically day-by-day. 2 Week old eggs can hatch, but fresh ones have better odds.

ok tx. i know bout room temperature but we have to warm. so one guy told me that i can have them in a fridge for that time
will thay still hatch?

Some people have good luck with refrigerated eggs other do not. I think alot of it depends on what your fridge is set on. I like my fridge very cold (my milk will freeze on occasion) so eggs dont do well for me in the fridge. But I live in Maine so my eggs are usually fine on the counter.

I have also heard conflicting reports on refrigerated eggs.
There is a whole section on people hatching fertile eggs they bought from Trader Joes, and these have to have been kept at very low temps in order to be able to be saleable in a grocery store.
My neighbor and I set our broodies with eggs the same day. Mine from my hens, which were left at room temp, and hers from my hens out of a carton in the fridge (about a week old). I am dying to see her results, which we will know next week!!!!

I am incubating eggs right now, 4 were stored at room temp and 2 are from the refrigerator. Last night I looked at them (day 3) they were all developing...I can't wait to see if it works.

Delighted to hear a good report on fridge eggs! Also, please post pics of the little fridgies when they hatch!

Curious how the fridge eggs turned out?

Just got rid of my rooster due to neighbors but my hen has gone broody. Wondering if I could pull a couple eggs from the fridge to put under her. Been in there 4-5 days I guess.
