The tamest friendliest chickens we ever had were turkens, the naked neck birds. They were hard to get used to looking at but so calm and easy to handle.

Me too. I spend a lot of time with our chicks as babies. As I went through my pics to find ones for this post I realized I have an enormous collection of chicks sleeping on me all the way to full grown chickens sleeping on me. I also spend active time with them as chicks, I have some trained to jump onto my hand/arm, and in general I am just around a lot when they are babies. When I take them outside for the first few times I am sure to squat low to the ground so they can run under me if they get scared. I essentially become momma hen and later in life they definitely gravitate toward me most. That being said I have a Gold Laced Wyandotte who feels very strongly that I am out to murder her, regardless of how much I cuddled with her and petted her and treated her as a baby. Just her personality.I definitely agree with @piminuse as every bird is different although handling while young helps a lot
I agreeMy experience with Rhode Island Red are good. Easter Egger is like playing poker. Some would be extra friendly. Some are skittish.
