I have raised both chickens and ducks for years and I am thinking about adding some geese to my current flock. However, I don’t want any mean birds in my flock. I would want my geese to get along with my chickens, my dog, my cat, and younger children. I don’t mind having them get a bit nervous around strangers, since I rarely have company over...and when I do I can just pen them up for a bit. But, I do want them to get along with everyone in my family. I did a little research and see that many people have been happy with the temperment of Pilgrim geese. Has anyone had any experience with that breed..or does anyone have experience with another breed that they could recommend?
Thanks!

In my experience even the most mild mannered geese become a bit territorial when breeding. It's just the nature of the breed to defend territory and resources for their young. Pilgrims and Embdens can be quite mellow. A lot depends as much on the family and nature of the individual bird.
