Hello all! Towards the end of February I purchased a silkie and frizzle chick. The seller said they “thought” they were hens but it was hard to tell. They are at least 8 weeks, silkie may be older. I am praying they are hens and was wondering if anyone had any ideas based on pics. So far, no crowing attempts....
Thank you!!!

I am not sure of gender because silkies are really hard to sex. Are your silkies really fragile or sensitive? I'm thinking of maybe getting a silkie if any of my chicks are cockerels and if silkies arent to sensitive!! I cant keep cockerels where I live!!

I’m new to this but the silkie doesn’t seem fragile. The black one is a frizzle. I am hoping they are both hens but have no idea. I can’t have roosters either.

I can't see the comb well on the frizzle but the color of the wattle makes me think pullet. Silkies can take a little longer to accurately sex, but I agree that she looks older than 8 weeks, so I'm going to say pullet for her, too.

Oh from your lips to God’s ears!!! I hope, I hope!!! Thank you so much for your opinion. Did you see all the pics? I’m new to this site so may not have done it right. Thank you again!

I just saw you added more pictures in the second post. I think my mouse may have skipped over them, it's been a little fidgety lately. But yes, I'm still going with my original opinion: both look like pullets to me.
Welcome to BYC!! We're glad to have you here. :wee

Thank you so much! I have a lot to learn about chickens and BYC and how to get around. Thank you again for your thoughts!
