I have a frizzled silkie/Rhode Island Red rooster I need to re-home. He was raised with the flock and was getting along fine but has now started being more aggressive with the other rooster and is too aggressive when he tries to mate with the silkies. I haven's seen any issues with him and the standard sized hens. He was born in July. I'm located in Dayton, Ohio.

If you are able, you could take it to a livestock auction to sell. Do a google search for livestock auction to see what is near to you. Recently we went to an auction and sold 9 birds and got cash for all. We averaged $7/ bird before commission and sold 3 cockerels (one 10 month old which had several bids, and the two that were 4 months old went for a bit less). We sold some 10 and 4 month old pullets too. We made simple cages since we were not sure how long the auction would take. I know that Jackson Livestock auction is north of Dayton, but holds an auction once per month and the next one should be early Feb. Assume they have a website to check out with info.

Here were our cages we made and were sold with the birds because we could not stay past a certain time due to another commitment. Boxes cut down for viewing and then zip tied to chicken wire.

Any chance you or someone you know would be coming to NY? I’ll take him if I can find a ride for him. I have many hens and no rooster so he would have a good home here.
