Ok, question. I have 3 frizzle chickens
The first is a full grown hen that we rescued in the middle of last year/this year's winter
Then a 3 month old normal frizzle roo
And an 'extreme' frizzle roo
Now I do want to keep one of the little chicks but I have heard breeding 2 frizzles may be bad, and that having an extreme frizzle isn't good. I am a little confused, could someone explain? Thank you guys!!

breeding two frizzles together produces frazzles, a condition where the feathers are sparse and break off easily, most times resulting in naked chickens, had a couple, they had trouble making it through the winter, in the summer had bad sunburn, it's not a good idea for the health of the bird, you should breed frizzle to regular feathers, you would get 50% frizzle.

Yeah. I just didn't know. Thank you for telling me. I am actually surprised as he has been fine this summer if you have a coop with shade behind it, since during the day they will chill there and if they want food, they will go inside to get it. In the winter I plan to heat the coop, and try my best. But I never bred frizzles, I actually bought them from Murray Mc Murray which makes me wonder if they breed drizzle to frizzle?

Mine didn't become naked until his second summer, I'm not a fan of heated coops, but that's your business, I'm sure Murray McMurray is just interested in making more chicks as most hatchery are, so take care of them the best you can, that's all you can do. If you want to breed you might need a smooth feathered bird that carries the frizzle gene, or wait for the second generation from birds that doesn't have the gene.

Alright thank you!! The only reason I plan on heating it is that in Ohio it gets very cold in winter and warm in the summers a
So we will only heat it in the winters.
