Hi everyone! I’m the face behind Jasper Cluckhouse, and I’m so excited to finally join this community. I dove into the world of backyard chickens in March 2025, and it’s safe to say I’ve caught a major case of "Chicken Math."
Current Flock Status:
52 happy birds out in the main coop/run.
5 babies currently in the brooder.
11 more tucked away in the incubator!
The Breed List:
I love a colorful egg basket, so I’ve curated a bit of a mix! My current crew includes:
Ameraucanas & Easter Eggers (for those blues and greens!)
Marans (for the deep chocolate browns)
Orpingtons (the best "lap chickens")
Wyandottes (for those gorgeous laced feathers)
Why I Love It:
My absolute favorite aspect of raising chickens is the connection to my food and the personality of the birds. There’s nothing more peaceful than "chicken TV"—just sitting out back and watching them forage. Plus, seeing the different egg colors every morning never gets old!
Why I’m Joining:
I joined this group to connect with fellow poultry lovers, share the highs and lows of homesteading, and keep learning. There’s always something new to discover when it comes to coop designs, health, and hatching!
