Hey guys, new quail owner here. Have 27 females and 9 males in the aviary. They were all hatched in April. I was getting up to a 30 eggs per day in June and July, but in August egg production started slowly diminishing. In the last three to four weeks I am only gathering 6-10 eggs per every two to three days.
It was hot August in Georgia, but quails were in the aviary that is most of the day in the shade under the trees. The day still have plenty of sunlight and temperatures are back to normal summer temps.
What could be causing such a dramatic egg production drop?
Also, as my observation, male quails - roosters were crowing on a regular basis and were rather obnoxious, however, starting in August, I noticed that they are all being quite now. No crowning during the night or day.
Any ideas?
