This looks great! Is it done yet? I would take out the frosted glass, put hardware cloth over the whole inside of the window, and then get plexiglass and put velcro on it so you can put it on for inclement weather or in the winter. Or take it off for hot sticky nights. My husband did that on the coop we bought - it had a cute window with panes but didn't open. He bought a 18" x 20" (approx) for $20.

Not yet! The local Home Depot didn't have the right length of wire I needed, So I had to wait till today to get it when I went to another town on business. We got it and we're ready to go. Dang that hardware cloth is expensive stuff!
We're gonna work on it tonight after it cools down a bit outside.
I'm leaving town on Monday, so I really need to get this done and get those five-week-old chicks out of the brooder and into a bigger place to stay!

I was gonna replace the screen in the window with hardware cloth, but I never though of just removing the glass and attaching a piece of plexiglass with velcro! great idea! I'm gonna go outside and see if I can make it work on this window! THANKS!

My main drawback to getting this all finished is the heat! Most mornings and evenings I am too busy and the afternoons here in Florida are getting pretty rough to stay outside. I could do it, I just don't want to. My wife is yelling at me for taking too many showers as it is!

You're welcome for the idea! If your window trim is white, I would use white or clear velcro. My husband used black . . . . and put it around the entire window. But he is rebuilding our coop anyway . . . can't wait to see yours finished! By the way, it is no cooler up here in NJ. Supposed to be 103 Saturday.Yippee!!

Oh and I would put the velcro on the framing wood around the window, not on the window itself.
