We have a duck that hatched on Nov. 1 of this year. We have been keeping him in a dog kennel in our basement (with playtime with the kittens and time for a bath in the tub). Everyone gets along and plays nicely.
Will he be able to be put outside this winter safely? We live in Michigan and it gets COLD! Right now he's under a heat lamp. He's still yellow but has the beginnings of feathers.

What kind of duck is it?
Will he have a ducky shelter once he's outside?

yes, he will have shelter and a run caged in. We can put a heat lamp in there if needed. He's a Pekin duck...I believe so anyway.

Once he gets feathered, he should be OK with some shelter.
I think the Pekins are pretty cold hardy.
Do you have any pictures of your little duck? I love duckling pictures!

If he goes outside without a friend to snuggle up to a heat lamp outside would be a good idea. Ducks can produce a lot of body heat and moisture overnight- but one on its own- especially a young one can still get cold.
