My husband brought Seabright bantem chickens home one day and we've been hooked ever since. There are 4 hens and 1 rooster in the Golden Seabrights, and 1 hen and 1 rooster in the Silver Seabrights. They started laying eggs Dec. 14th. Today I went to gather eggs, the usual 3 or 4 we've been getting and noticed one of the hens setting in an unusual and hidden like place. I tried to give her time to lay and finally by almost dark I worked my way into the small area to discover 16 eggs hidden in that cubby hole (not counting the 4 in the normal spots!) I have other chickens in with them that we hatched in an incubator in October. I suppose they were crowding the Seabrights out of their nesting boxes and they took matters into their own claws. I'm really fascinated with these amazing creatures and love the info and help from this site. We are gathering lumber and info for a new coop which I wish was already done because of the cold weather.
