Hey all,
I've now done a few runs of quail eggs successfully and have decided that quail just aren't for us. I've swapped the rails in our incubator to start hatching our chicken eggs to raise meat birds from them. Normally we just wait for a broody hen to raise batches for us but I'm ready to tackle them in the incubator instead. Our current broody hen (her first time) left her nest to lay on another with just a few eggs so I'm assuming her batch of eggs is no longer good. She'd been on them for a week. She's back on them now and I'll candle them in a few more days to see if they are incubating but I am assuming no. We don't know exactly how long she was off of them but they were cold when I found her/them. So I am now collecting eggs to start our own incubation. For those who have incubated/hatched both chicken and quail are there really any differences other than the days of incubation? Tips and tricks appreciated!
Have a great day!

I'm just gonna say whatever i know about Incubating Chickens, even if you know. Just some Basic stuff

1. Chickens take 21 Days to hatch
2. For our Chickens, we put our Humidity to 40 - 50
3. When the Chickens hatch, you can tell by the Shell they hatched out of. If the Humidity was Too High, Too Low or just Right
4. I use a Brinsea Maxi 24, Incubator. Which is quite Simple to use and setup, and also Turns for you
5. You should mark a Calender or make one out of Paper. To keep track of the days
6. Don't open Incubator, unless Quickly Cleaning out Shells (Like, Very very Quickly). When the Chickens are Hatching, or you'll shrink wrap them
7. After hatch, you'll probably need to keep your Chickens in the Incubator for a Day or Two (Really depends how many Chickens your hatching and how big the Incubator is)
8. Don't help a Chicken hatch, Unless you REALLY need too
9. Candling Days (we do): Day 7 and Day 14
10. Lockdown Day: Day 18

If you have any questions! I'll try to answer them for you!
