Hi. I have a rooster with a necrotic toe. It has been weeks and I was hoping to have it just fall off. Is there a way to remove the toe sadly, how do I stop the artery from gushing? Any advice would be welcomed. He is 8 years old and I do t have the heart to cull him.

The other birds are trying to kill him because he is limping and weak: so we have had him separated for a while.

Separate in a wire dog crate with food and water, but keep him with the others. Do not amputate the toe, as it will self amputate within a few weeks. It won’t hurt to put a little Betadine or chlorhexidene on it.

thank you. W

We do have a separate area inside the main coop he can go into . Fingers crossed, it falls off.
