Yesterday I put my hens in their run. Four of them escaped while I had been gone all day. I didn't know it until that night when I happened to see one of my girls roosted on my deck. I put her back in the coop and found them all, but one. Today the hen that was missing showed up in the yard.
This winter I have put vaseline on all my chickens combs, wattles and feet. Its been the coldest winter that we have had in my five years of keeping chickens. I noticed today that a few of my hens have black and white comb tips. The hen who slept outside has a purple comb with black spots on it and there is some black on her feet too. I don't want her to be in pain! Should I bring her in the house? Thank you for your help!!

Well, what's done, is done. But I think you should secure your run so they can't get out again. Do they have a warm coop? I think the best you can do, is just make sure she is in a fairly warm place.

Yes I have to secure it for sure. I think the fly over the fence. I use the deep litter method. They have two windows at the highest roost which are closed. The nipple waterer drips a little bit, but i think it's pretty warm for the most part.
