Frozen Chicken Poop clean up

Hi all! I have a question about chicken poop clean up. We have a coop in our yard with a sliding door on one side. The weather has been getting really cold at night and my husband wants us to close the sliding door to keep it warmer in the coop for the chickens. Only problem is, there is chicken poop in the area where the door slides closed. My son has been using a screw driver to chip away at it but its been slow going. I was wondering if there was a better way to clean it. Any suggestions are helpful!

lol..Im sure my son would be happy to use a blowtorch. lol. We don't have a paint scraper or a blowtorch unfortunately ( yes, I know you were kidding ) Will try some warm water.

Paint scrapper is the unsung hero of the chicken coop. It also works great to clean roosts and of course are super cheap.

Warm water will turn to ice, how quickly depends on how cold it is where you are.

to close the sliding door to keep it warmer in the coop for the chickens.

This is a bit a of a myth. Chickens need good ventilation 24/7/365, closing the door might reduce too cold/strong of a draft, but make sure the coop is well ventilated with that door closed.

I had to laugh at your thread title, I just came in from cleaning up 'poopsicles'.

I would try a hot saltwater mix, let it sit for a few (don't let it re freeze) and then get a scrub brush and a shop vac and go to town. I would then build a filler so this issue wont happen again.
