I had bought some corn early in the season & it wasn't that great, hubby said just pitch the rest (was tough & not very tasty)

Of course I could not throw it away when i know the chickens would love love love it !!! so I tossed it in the freezer.

On those terribly hot days we just had, I through a couple frozen ears out and the chickens went nuts !!!!

another way to cool them off and give them a great treat at the same time!

I did the same! My FIL took off his first crop of corn last week from his backyard garden. he had to take them all because the racoons were getting it so there was a lot that wasn't quite ripe. There were also a lot of corn borers in it. We got about 8 dozen ears from him (guestimate). All the ends that were cut off with borers went directly to the chickens. underripe ones were set aside. Some were frozen and some were fed to them withing a few days. I also cleaned out my freezer of last years' crop of corn and gave that to the chickens.

I found some frozen pumpkin from 2yrs ago and some zucchini from last year that I never used. I'm giving that to the chickens, frozen, also. they don't like it right away but, within a few minutes it defrosts enough for them to peck at.
