Frustrated coop builder here (Pics)

Good job.

I have an 8X12 coop

and two 4 X 10 pens... only one of which is currently being used.

Wife doesn't want me to use the other one! Wonder why.

Sell them. (Some of them). Then make more to sell. If it turns out you can sell them for more than materials cost -- and if you are scroungey about your materials you probably can, and call them "custom work"

-- then might your SO be more kindly disposed to it? (Unless there are who-earns-the-money issues involved.

Alternatively, just don't use power tools. There really isn't anything I can see there that can't be done by hand. Yes, you CAN cut plywood by hand too, you just have to have the right saw (and good sandpaper).

Good luck,

Pat

On that first tractor, did you hinge the little run area to swing up on top of the tractor when you move it? That would be relatively easy to do and make it easily moveable. Love that little tractor.

keep it up you do beautiful work.
you have a a future doing what you do.
Post a for sale at your local TSC with a few pictures.
since they do not sell coops of any sort.
they will sell as fast as you can build.

Nice job. I wish I had your enthusiasm for building. As I've gotten older the desire to build things has left me )

I just bought a house with an acre yard & we are zoned Agricultural- (woo hoo!) so you'd think I'd be rushing out to build something to keep some chickens in...not so. Instead I am scouring craigs list & home depot for some sort of modifiable container for a coop. I have a 10 x10+ kennel run to use as the yard but they need a house & I just can't bring myself to start building.

BTW, I am new here & still don't have any chickens- YET!)

Kristin.......okay, I'm going to play psychologist here. Should you think a little more deeply about who you're going to marry??

Could you work out a plan with him, or a schedule, where he would be gone, have earphones in, etc., during the time you would be building something?
Honestly, I'm having trouble understanding why he's being so intolerant about a little noise.
I say..........keep on buildin'!
(Maybe he's jealous of the time you're spending with your coops, and not him??)
does he have a hobby?
You're right..........part of the great chicken experience is never really being done. There's always something to fix/change/improve on, and its very satisfying!
Good luck to you.

Kristin, Does this mean you're not going to be able to build my tractor?!?!? Say it isn't so. I have been hard at work trying to figure out how to get that darn thing around corners.

No worries Gwen! I'm thinking I'm going to convince my dearest significant other that a coffee shop in Seattle is the perfect place to conduct business from time to time. And while he's there, I'll be feverishly participating in my hobby/obsession.

Have you gotten any closer to figuring out what you think will work for your space?
